On my baptism day 23rd October 2016

My journey here today began many years ago as a chorister and altar boy at St Philips in Eastbourne where I attended for many years until I got married. Then ensued a spell of being in a spiritual desert. Later and more into my 20’s I continued my great friendship with Monica who in 2008 became my wife. During this friendship I photographed her daughters confirmation and through this and contact with her my faith grew. It was Monica who by this time a Christian, gave me a bible and actively encouraged me to love Jesus and put my faith and trust in spiritual things and not worldly values, to pray and ask for his guidance in all things. After coming to terms with the huge shock of being diagnosed with terminal cancer but armed with her faith and eventual acceptance of the situation ……she told me that she was not frightened of dying because she knew she was going to a far better place, she just didn’t want to leave all those many people she loved and who in turn loved her. All this and more has had a tremendous effect on me and I believe that God has worked through her to bring me to baptism here today and to come to faith in him as she did. I would like to say a big thank you to my new family at Grace Fellowship….all of you, you have taken this learner and encouraged me more than you will ever know. Special thanks to Dennis, Ray and Jim for your visits to our home, Mo for encouraging the pair of us, and Eve who was so very pleased about today when I recently told her.
